[Issue] Webzen Union Wedding on May 2, to the National Assembly
We decided to postpone the strike on May 2, when the Webzen union was scheduled. Webzen unions prepare for a parliamentary meeting.
On the 28th, Roh Young -ho, chairman of the Webzen Union Union, said, “Lee Sang -heon, a member of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, and Roh Woong -rae, a member of the Environmental Labor Commission, suggested the hosting of the meeting.” Roh Young -ho will hold a meeting to prepare for the meeting on May 2, when the strike was scheduled.
Earlier, the Webzen union prepared for a strike by challenging the 2022 wage negotiations. The union claims that the company has only announced an average increase of 10% of all employees. The union demanded the company to increase the annual salary of 10 million won and share the total incentives of the team leader. The company did not accept union claims.
When wage negotiations broke down, the union voted for a dispute against members. The number of votes with 92.78% of the members was approved by 72.2%. On April 18, the Webzen union declared that it would start an indefinite strike from May 2.
As the first strike in the game industry became visible, the National Assembly was mediated. In addition, Democratic Party Lee Sang -heon and Roh Woong -rae met the union and the company. The two lawmakers paused the disputes to the union for a while and presented a meeting. The union decided to postpone the dispute for a while with the National Assembly proposal. The meeting schedule and the resumption of the strike are not yet set.
