Saw Gerrera disorder: Where does your mania come from? Galaxies War Theory

Since Saw Herrera appeared for the first time in the animated series The Clone Wars, his character has become a very intriguing character and different from what is usually presented in the Star Wars universe. Instead of being on the idealized side of good or on the treacherous side of evil, Herrera represents that very human middle term that flutters in the variable fog of gray morality.

Even more than this, it is represented as maniac, even something crazy, as the character grows in live animation and action. Many factors give credit to this theory, such as Herrera's personal losses, the atrocities he witnessed and, finally, its use of the creature, For Gullet. Let's explore how and why Saw Herrera descended to the madness we see in Rogue One.

The early trauma of Herrera

Herrera was born in the last years of the galactic republic on the jungle planet waved. He admired the monarch of Anderson, King Ramses Dengue, while growing in the capital city of Aziz with his sister Steel Herrera.

During an arc of season 5 of The Clone Wars, the separatist drug army invaded and imposed the confederate law on its citizens. To complicate things, King Dengue was deposed and replaced by King Sanjay Rash, a puppet leader who reported directly to Count Took. Herrera and her sister openly challenged the new king and were exiled from Aziz; Concerned about the future of his native world, he and Steel began organizing resistance with citizens of related ideas against King Rash and the separatist government.

During this period, Herrera is represented as a young dedicated and reckless fighter, ready to face the separatists, sometimes extremely impatient with the rhythm and tenacity of the members of the resistance. At the end of the arch, his sister Steel dies during a battle, and Herrera blames himself for his death and is visibly affected by her. Stella's death could undoubtedly lead to distrust, paranoia and the mental state of Herrera in the future and in the darkest times of the empire.

At the end of the clone wars, Herrera continued their resistance, now against the galactic empire, with a group of faithful followers nicknamed the partisans. His group of rebels would fight throughout the existence of the empire using guerrillas and was labeled as a terrorist group due to the use of torture and, sometimes, the murder by Herrera by interrogating the prisoners. Even so, Herrera does not appear again until the fourth season of Star Wars Rebels, which takes place just before New Hope, almost twenty years after the clone wars.

In this arch of Rebels, the Ghost crew finds Herrera on the Genesis planet at the place of a massacre of the entire population. Here, a much greater Herrera is represented a bit nervous and with a spooky laugh, similar to someone with severe trauma and mental instability. He is still completely human, he has none of the cyber and breathing devices that looks in Rogue One.

It is revealed that Herrera is the only survivor of his team that went to Genesis, all killed by the last gentian who was left on the planet. The ghost and Herrera crew collide several times along the two-episodes arc because Herrera wants to violate the Georgian.

Herrera finally reveals his violent nature by torturing the Georgian in the ghost, which caused a confrontation with the crew and Herrera retaining the last remaining Georgian egg hostage, threatening to destroy it. Herrera calls the ghost crew and other soft rebels and accuses his less violent methods as the reason they lost the clone wars.

It is evident that during the decades between the clone wars and the years prior to Rogue One, the Paranoia and the extremism of Herrera have grown to terrifying levels. It seems that there is no limit or line that would not cross to serve the cause for which he is fighting, even using a terrifying creature that further destroys his mind.

The final descent of Herrera: For's throat

When we see Herrera for the last time in Rogue One, his body and his mind have suffered much more damage than the previously seen, and is using the help of a terrifying creature called For Gullet. For Gullet is actually a species known as Areas, a semi-conscious species of multiple tentacles from the planet Aires.

These creatures have the unique ability to read the mind and erase, or alter, memories and, what is more scary, as Herrera describes, For Gullet can feel your thoughts. No lie is safe. For Gullet will know the truth. The unfortunate side effect is that one tends to lose their heads.

To give a little context to the time frame, Rogue One is a few days less than a week before New Hope events. The character appears in the recent Ardor Episode 8, five years before Rogue One. Here, Herrera still does not use cybernetics and a breathing apparatus, so the mystery of those injuries and the possible final trauma that pushes Herrera to the Maniac person we see in Rogue One could be revealed in the Ardor series.

The mystery of these injuries and made in those five years could be crucial to add more context to the theory and speculation of Herrera's madness, but without a doubt something extremely traumatic happened to the rebel, pushing his distrust of all and the paranoia of the People, all hiding things. He probably led to his employment as For Gullet during his interrogations of prisoners.

The For Gullet operates as an empathic predator, as described by the writer Chris Watt in The art of Rogue One: a story of Star Wars, is an empathetic; You can understand exactly what you are thinking, but it also feeds on emotions. But it never shows or describes exactly how Herrera obtains the information that For Gullet extracts.

The popular theory that has circulated through Reddit over the years postulates that to get For Gullet's information, Herrera is also subject to the creature, which allows him to feed him and deposit that information in his mind in the process.

Given the intimate understanding of Herrera of the creature and how a person's sanity affects, it is easy to connect the points that his sanity and paranoia took an extreme descent once he began using it. The paranoia and the distrust that grew in Herrera over the years reached such an extreme level that he felt that he could no longer trust anyone to tell him the truth, and For Gullet was theonly way that he could trust any information on any information.

Saw Herrera is an intriguing and tragic figure in the tradition and universe of Star Wars. A character with whom you can relate a lot in its very human and psychologically committed position, despite being in a fictional fantasy/science fiction universe like Star Wars. The reappearance of the character and the sensational interpretation of Forrest Whitaker in the Ardor series could shed more light on how exactly their final decline in madness and reinforce or refute this theory.
