Lessons learned from the playoffs of the Summer Academy of the LCS 2021

After a pause at the Spring Split, the LCS Academy Series resumed the postseason game with the LCS NA Academy 2021 Summer Playoffs. The six best teams of the Summer Split faced with the summer planting of Proving Grounds and the right-handed rights on the line. With the end finished, this is what we learned from the LCS Equipment Championship.

Although unstable, Team Liquid Academy shows that it is the best team in the Academy

Team Liquid Academy went through many changes during the Summer Split. That's because the Top Lane Thomas Jenkins Tran, and Jungle Jonathan Armade Armo, were called to the main roster for a couple of weeks. After a successful season in the main list, Armao and Jenkins were sent back to the Academy team to prepare for the playoffs. The list of the Academy with Jenkins and Armao is a completely different team. Throughout the summer division, the team with both playing had a mark of 12-2 in the matches, including 4-0 in the last week of the division. Looking ahead of the playoffs, Team Liquid kept his impulse, but he almost lost his balance.

C9 vs NOR | Game 3 | 2021 Spring LCS Proving Grounds | Upper Bracket Finals

In his first round against the 100 Thieves Academy, Team Liquid struggled to eliminate 100t. After exchanging games along the series, the Liquid team was finally able to take the 3-2 series to qualify for the final. In the final, Team Liquid faced Cloud9 Academy and wore great in the first two games. After a 2-0 advantage in the game, Team Liquid lifted the foot of the accelerator and Cloud9 Academy took advantage of the fullest. They took consecutive games to tie the series in 2-2 each, forcing the game five. For Cloud9, his return was short since Team Liquid achieved a solid 32 minute victory to take the series and the title of champions of the Academy.

Team Liquid Academy will now be the close-up in general in the Summer Tournament of Proving Grounds, and looks like one of the favorites to win the event, even if they have problems maintaining the advantages.

The Cloud9 Academy shows signs of Primaverly

Proving Grounds spring runners did not take a step forward in the summer division. Throughout the regular season, Cloud9 Academy did not live up to expectations. As they could not take the next step, other teams from their league did it. Flyquest Academy and Team Liquid Academy looked much better at the Summer Split, surpassing Cloud9 in the classification. Cloud9 finished fourth in the regular season and, as a result, was paired with Evil Geniuses Academy in the first round of the playoffs. In the first two games of that series, Cloud9 continued his bad way and seemed to take the early departure when Evil Geniuses took the advantage of the 2-0 series. But with his back against the wall, Cloud9 made the reverse sweep to move forward.

In the semifinals, Cloud9 confronted the Flyquest Academy, the best serial head. In an exciting series of five games, Cloud9 achieved a surprise, three games to two, to advance to the final. For many, this was not a surprise, but Cloud9 played with all his strength as they clung to the victory against a very improved Flyquest squad. In the final, Team Liquid interposed on its way. Similar to the Evil Geniuses series, Cloud9 quickly fell to a 2-0 deficit. But Cloud9's exclusive special showed his face once again when he won the three and four games, forcing a game five. Ultimately, Cloud9 could not perform the reverse sweep and had to settle for a second place.

Face to the summer of Proving Grounds, Cloud9 has shown that they can face face to face with the best teams of the Academy, but have not been consistent at all. However, they have folded a corner and seem a threat to reach the final by second consecutive split.

Flyquest Academy disappoints

The FlyQuest list, both at the level of LCS and academy, is full of talent and potential young people. Despite the difficulties of the main list, Flyquest Academy had a fantastic summer division. So much so that a reorganization of the half-season roster benefited both the Equipment of the LCS and the Academy. During the first week of the Roster Exchange, both the teams of the Academy and those of the LCS remained undefeated, which demonstrates the depth of the talent that Flyquest has. After the honeymoon phase, the LCS team returned to Earth. But the team of the Academy took advantage of that impulse to end in the first place in the regular season. All eyes were put on the academy team that was heading to the playoffs, but their playoffs ended abruptly.

After the goodbye of the first round they had, Flyquest was matched against a squadron of the wobbling and inconsistent cloud academy. Cloud9 was the Spring Subcamador of Proving Grounds, but he has not been able to gather anything since then, so Flyquest arrived at the party as a favorite. Cloud9 pulled out the first blood in the series at the best of five. Despite the Flyquest Exchange Games from that moment, they were short when Cloud9 took the 3-2 series and eliminated Flyquest from the playoffs from the Summer Academy of the LCS. Fortunately for Flyquest, only the summer sowing of Proving Grounds was at stake for them on the playoffs. However, with an early departure from the playoffs, they will have to play better against the best amateur teams in North America to avoid other fast exit, at the Na Amateur championships in a couple of weeks.
