NCSoft is experiencing a crisis - says the head of NCSoft
Hwang Jin Yi (Korean: 황진이) is a 2007 South Oriental biographical dramatization movie directed by Chang Yoon-hyun. Based on Hong Seok-jung s 2002 novel Hwangjini (which won the Manhae Reward for Literature in 2004), the movie has to do with the life of Hwang Jin-yi, the most renowned courtesan (or gisaeng ) in Korean history, starring Song Hye-kyo in the title function.
Here are fragments of a special letter that Kim Taek-Jin (CEO NCSoft) sent to all his employees.
External reactions around NCSoft are very cold and the critic is still flowing.
Under releases, our company is in the crisis - I see it and hear.
We must bend over problems, but also in listening to violent criticism and kind, but not always audible votes.
I take responsibility and declare readiness to change, even if it will be unpopular and uncomfortable.
I encourage our employees to share their feelings, thoughts and personal ideas that will change NCSoft for the better. I am also grateful for your dedication and everyday work of positions
The whole situation is related to Blade & Soul 2, which was destroyed by aggressive monetization and some kind of NCSoft greed (compulsion to buy a combat pass, powerful items available in Lootbox, boosts to the Expa only for paying, etc.).
The game was traveled by fans who turned their backs from her and poured a bucket of ideas on developers. As a result, the company s shares fell by almost 25%. We wrote about it here .
It is true that most of the controversial decisions have already been withdrawn from BS2, but the disgust remained. In addition, many players lost confidence in NCSoft.
Hence this letter and the promise of far-reaching changes. We will live, we ll see if something will happen.
